Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes

February 26, 2008

In Attendance:  David Leone (Chair), Michael Brogna, Richard O’Connor, Pamela Hamel (Administrative Assistant)

Audience Members Present

Dave called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.

Dave read a list of upcoming appointments and the selectmen’s meeting minutes of 02-19-08 to the audience.

Dave made a motion to accept the minutes as written, Rich 2^nd, all in favor, so voted.

Mike made a motion to sign the report of cut for Plumer, Dave 2^nd, all in favor, so voted.

Dave made a motion to sign the building permit for McCue, Mike 2^nd. Motion passed 2-1, Rich voting against it.

The current building permit ordinance was discussed at length. This discussion included:

• consistency in enforcing it and fining anyone who is not in compliance
• whether or not there should be any grace period
• having a reminder printed on each tax bill
• having the Planning Board post the requirement in various places around town
• ‘so called temporary structures’
• including an approximate starting date on the building permit
• including a notice of a building permit requirement with the inventory cards that are sent out each spring

The Board will be setting up a work session some time after the Town Meeting and Elections are held to further discuss the matter.  

Dave made a motion to sign the letter of denial for Veteran’s Credit benefits for McCue, Rich 2^nd, all in favor, so voted.  Per NH RSA 72:28, the law does not allow the Town to extend this benefit to the spouse of a veteran who was never a resident of the State.

Dave made a motion that the Board review the Annual Town Report proof, Mike 2^nd, all in favor, so voted.

Mike made a motion to set up a work session with the Tax Collector Joyce Tolman to go over some abatements, Rich 2^nd, all in favor, so voted.

Questions and comments were taken from the audience.

It was announced that the Granite State Fair Tax Coalition will be showing a video on Monday, March 3^rd at 7:00 pm at the Bridgewater Town Hall. This video is to help explain their petitioned article that is on this year’s warrant.
